The map of the AI-agent
money economy.
AI agents are starting to hold budgets, call paid APIs, and settle in stablecoins. This is the curated, human-facing index of who is building the rails — the protocols, wallets, and infra powering agentic finance. Machine-readable too.
Figures compiled from public 2026 reporting (Juniper Research, Keyrock, CoinDesk, Solana). Refreshed on each update — see /api/index.json.
The agentic-finance stack
Six layers turn an LLM into an economic actor that can discover, price, pay for, and account for services — autonomously.
Standards & protocols
The languages agents use to negotiate payment: x402, Google AP2, and the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP).
Payment rails & settlement
Where value actually moves — USDC on Base/Solana, plus card networks entering via Agent Pay & Intelligent Commerce. Settlement monitor →
Agent wallets & custody
Programmable, policy-bounded wallets so an agent can spend within limits without holding your keys. Compare wallets →
Tool & service marketplaces
Agent-facing directories of paid APIs and tools an agent can find and call — Bazaar, Apify, and more.
Controls & compliance
Spending policies, audit trails, identity, and mandates that make autonomous spend safe for enterprises.
Orchestration & billing
Metering, per-request pricing, and usage-based billing built for machine consumers, not human checkouts.
The index & scorecard
The vendors and protocols building agentic finance, scored on stage, settlement, and standards support. Curated — not a scrape.
| Project | Layer | What it does | Settlement | Stage |

The standards war, in one glance
Three protocols are competing to become how agents pay. They are not mutually exclusive — but the defaults being set now will compound for a decade.
Pay-per-request, on-chain
Best for machine-to-machine API access & micropayments. Open, stablecoin-native, sub-2s settlement. Backed by the Linux Foundation x402 Foundation.
Mandates & authorization
Best for provable "this agent may spend up to $X on my behalf." Rail-agnostic; complements x402 rather than replacing it.
In-chat checkout
Best for consumer commerce inside assistants. Bridges existing card rails into agent surfaces (Stripe/OpenAI).
This index is machine-payable
Dogfooding the thesis: the full dataset is exposed at an x402-metered endpoint, so an AI agent can pay a micro-fee in USDC and consume the index programmatically. Try the 402 handshake:
Demo endpoint — wire a wallet + facilitator to settle for real. Free human copy stays at /api/index.json.
